Yes, will check this.

No-no, that was my error. So, when ATC select runway for user aircraft, it compare every "in use" runway length with minimum required length for user aircraft, BUT I am just not set it, cause I dont know exact type of user aircraft in common case and (anyway) have no instant catalog. I will fix this set minimum required length for user aircraft like Wingspan * 100 / 2, but no more when 2500 meters for example. Fix will be at beta 9.
Thank you! My bad!

I'd say that this depends on how smart the ATC will be in considering these requests. I would not like to be denied a longer runway with my 777 because of 3kts wind in favor of the shorter one. That's why I would vote to be able to select any runway.

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

1. If we want to simulate the real world flight then we must follow ATC advised concerning sight, wind and not to forget traffic!
2. It will be necessary to develop ATC AI to the degree, to recognize airliner type and link them in addition to runway length.

I guess it would be sufficient if there was a light/medium/heavy selector while filing the flight plan.
Also btw since I mentioned the flightplan - it would be nice if we could choose our gates. But that's a minor point for now, but a wish for future :-)

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

It would be great if ATC could give a speed direction to the pilot at certain times of flight especially when setting up for a final approach as this is what is done in real life. For instance "KLM 223 Descend to 2,000ft maintain 180 knots" Or it would be great also if the speed of other aircraft on the radar could be shown as additional information so that the pilot knows what speed to fly to keep a constant distance away from other landing aircraft. Others might have requested these features and probably is a lot to ask. The AI traffic works very well I'm very happy with that. Hats off to all the beta testers and JAR! Thanks for everyone's time and effort developing this great product! Looking forward to the future!

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Good day,
I will be posting some of the setting i use on the iMac for SMP-3 and also I use now the NOAA weather injector together with X-Life it is working to very well an you don't get the all of a sudden weather download and crash so after I land I will post the screen shots of the setting on SMP-3 and the NOAA weather injector it's very cool ...
captbullett

Ok, so the JPG's are the settings and screen shots of the actual weather generated by SMP-3 and the NOAA weather plugin as far as I can tell both are working together and able also able to work with X-Life and generate the weather we need for XL.

1) Shows the dirty weather generated by NOAA weather injector and how it uses the 'set uniformly for the whole world' setting in the weather settings.
2) This show a storm that was generated and I did have to drop out of the storm, just to keep flying I must say this was much different as I was able to recover the aircraft and keep flying now you have to pay attention to what you are doing to do this type of flying.
3) This was another screenshot of NOAA weather and different weather setting generated and X-Life.
4) This screen shot is the setting screen shot for SMP-3 and X-Life the is just the base set-up and you can adjust from here.
5) This shot shows the cloud layer and how it was generated coming into KATL from NOAA injector and SMP-3 so I think the cloud level is better now that I am using the NOAA injector.
6) This shot tell the rest of the story except my settings which i will post also this is the FPS in the X-Plane and i think the picture is worth a thousand words.
7) My computer X-Plane settings..

so this is all run on the latest version of X-Life...
Happy flying
And to all the veterans to there happy memorial Day!

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Hi JAR

I was thinking again about ATC runway advice and runway options to choose for take-off.
Because in this development stage there are certain problems with ATC advising wrong runways (too short, not in wind dir.)
I tend to you fisrt solution to present  all runways as option. We as pilots have then to look at weather conditions and if the runway length is suitable for our aircraft and then make our decision.  For now it is surly the optimal solution !

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Possible bug in 1.1b8?
I was playing around with making my own taxi routes for XL at a small airport CYDF with 1.1b7 and things worked quite nice. Installed 1.1b8 (replaced win.xpl) and taxing aircraft stopped holding short the rwy with landing/departing/taxing aircraft. Swapped win.xpl back to 1.1b7 version and things went back to normal. To be sure that it was 1.1b8 that was causing this behavior no changes other than win.xpl swap were made to the sim/scenery during testing. If logs / files are needed please let me know which one(s).

So, done coding and try.. EHAM

- ATC give me clearance for RW 36L
- I ask 36C (was much closer for me)
- ATC give me new clearance with new SID for RW 36C

I decide make choice Runways list from only approved for Takeoff runways and if this runway have good wind condition. Anyway, if pilot will select opposite runway - will not possible to takeoff safety, cause of traffic flow for landing.

TEST FLIGHT KDEN - KSAN, A330, XL 1.8b
Crash
SkyMaxx Pro: Found new METAR.rwx file
SkyMaxx Pro: Parsing METAR data
--=={This application has crashed because of the plugin: SkyMaxx Pro}==--

I want to discuss a problem that occurs during my last 3 flights.

DELIVERY advices RWY but not SID.
In case of KDEN/KSAN the XL flight plan gives me RWY 17R   KDEN - SID(?) - DVV ...

This might be a bug, because as you can see on the next images DVV is located in opposite direction at north-east from RWY 17R !  The wrong alight advice happens now for the third time.

The result is that take-off RWY 17R - SID  CONNE3 - DBL  (my choice after studying SID charts 1606) as given in "Online Flight Planner" (see image) brings me fine of course but then FMC turns course back to DVV and I must delete all the mess that happened.

Questions: who feeds XL Flight Plan? Why XL is not giving SID and how can it happened that The first point after undeclared SID is located at a total wrong direction? I think that this problem began at XL 1.7b. In earlier beta versions DELIVERY gave me SID correctly and the Flight Plan was accordantly correct.

It is important to know if anybody else has same problems.....

i think there is a logical bug.

airplane 1 is landing, while airplane 2 is departing at same rwy in other directions - see pics (from LIPQ on rwy 09/27 landing only on rwy 09 allowed, departing on rwys 09+27)

same situation on LIPZ - 2 airplanes crashed ;-)

it seems all holding points are ignored

In flight from LOWW to EYVI there is a conflict between center and approach as to what FL should be used for descent, FL 50 or FL 60.

Good day,
yes, went to do a short rout KMIA/ KMCO and I was give three different runways to choose from to start very nice,  I can use my Navigraph Cloud charts to pick the best SID to match up the Flight plan and just using the widget easy Flight planning and quick to use, at some point if the flight plan can be saved this is the one and only improvement I think I have ever asked for as a Beta developer I would like to see this improvement Please.

So, the TOD is not showing this route so I will re start the sim and see if it fixed the issue.
