Re: XP11 JD330 v.3 r1,r2,r3,r4,r5

Current issues, which I've had since I've had the A330 (v2?)

AP on cruise will often Overspeed and disengage and the aircraft will pitch up aggressively. I then have to turn off A/T, cut throttle to idle, let the plane slow and reduce the altitude gained by the pitch up. Once settled, turn on A/T and apply full thrust to "wake" the A/T up, then reduce thrust levers back to CL.

On Approach, it's so so difficult to get the speed down. The initial slow down using the AP speed dial is fine, but when you're on APPR the speed just will not decrease it seems. Earlier I had the speed dialed to 141, but the plane would not reduce from 200. I put brakes on and extended gear. I ended up landing at 200 knots having to slam the anchors on when I touched down.

Why are these issues always present no matter how many versions are released? Is it user error?

Hi

On flight , in managed mode (with PERF pages filled ) you should not have issues .

On approach if approach phase page is correctly filled there is no speed problem .
FO announces "approach phase activated  ... the only things to do are to use flaps at correct speeds , spoilers if necessary and to have gears down ...(Before landing spoilers must be "armed" ).
This was already the way to proceed on previous versions .

Indeed. Well the whole FMC is correctly filled in, and the cruise will mostly "cruise" along fine at the cruise speed and altitude. Then it will suddenly just buckaroo into a pitch up.

On approach I have the spoilers armed, but then have to whop out the full extended brakes to try and get the speed down. The other night the plane would just not get below 200, so I had to force the flaps out and gear down to get her to slow down. This was in approach mode with the speed dialed to 141, with perfect ILS and glide-slope locked.

I am sure there has always been speed issues with this aircraft?

Re: XP11 JD330 v.3 r1,r2,r3,r4,r5

Something fundamental: What if on the one hand quite a few simmer can simulate flights with the JAR A330 v.3.r3 model without any problems and on the other hand there are simmer reporting constantly errors and bugs?

In 90% of the cases it turns out that the cause for errors and bugs is not attributable to the A330 version but is related to the computer configuration and/or the environment software.

I eg. use the same X-Plane11 and the same A330 version. Why can I do another successful test flight without just one problem and another user suffers from errors? Same flight model but everything else around it is not (always) the same and there are the errors to be found. That's why it's so hard to help.

A quick question to everyone who flys this aircraft version. Are you able to load it with xEnviro plugin active, without any sound issues?
If I run it with xEnviro enabled i can’t hear engine and other sounds of the aircraft. I already tried the sugested fixes but it doesn't help

Hi

I have no problem running xEnviro with the A330. I am using the BSS sound pack. All sounds can be heard.

Just a thought. I did have problems in the past losing engine sounds, First Officer etc (even without xEnviro). I was using an external audio interface with ASIO drivers. Most sounds would suddenly disappear at some point during the flight....either on ground or in the air.

Are you using something similar?

@ S3rg1o

It is a specialised external sound card for playback/recording. If you don't know what it is you won't be using one.

Maybe you could fill in the signature section of your profile so that everyone can see what hardware, plugins etc you are using. It might help.

I am a relative newcomer to flightsims and the JAR A330. I used to have similar problems with overspeed etc. Now I never have problems! Forgive me if I am stating the obvious.....or indeed doing things wrong!

Here are my thoughts and procedures.

On runway don't have AP or ATTR set.

When taking off set thrust levers to TOGA, don't allow plane to climb at an excessive rate.

When the LVR CLB indicator flashes on the PFD, pull thrust levers to CL detent. This will engage the ATTR.

Don't allow the speed to drop....work the yoke/joystick to maintain a slow climb.

At approx. 190 knots set flaps to zero and engage AP.

Only an unstable flight configuration will disengage the ATTR and AP. IF it does happen, ensure the ATTR and AP are disengaged.  DON'T engage the ATTR manually by pressing the button.
Pull back the throttle levers, then push to to TOGA, then pull back to CL. This will automatically engage the ATTR again. Then engage AP.

On approach, you should have no problems with speed. Make sure that the ATTR is engaged and that TOGA is not displayed on the PFD. That is the only way I can see that overspeed problems will occur (unless you are manually trying to descend at an excessive rate).
In this config all inputs from speed control dial should work. Just make sure that appropriate flaps are set for your speed...otherwise you will be in unstable condition and AP/ATTR will disengage.

Now I'm ready to be pulled apart by the experienced pilots! LOL

Hi

I do not understand why you have the speed dialed to 141 ... if the PER approach phase page is correctly filled the FO announces "approach phase activated" and speed reduces without prpblem .
If you want to activate this phase manually you can from PERF approach phase .

Your problem has never been an issue on A330

Re: XP11 JD330 v.3 r1,r2,r3,r4,r5

Well, I really appreciate the update.
The integration of the ground handling into the MCDU menu is really nice!

I have some suggestions regarding the Popup screens:
I would like to see popup displays for both the PDF and the ND (E/WD and lower ECAM would also be appreciated), that actually are movable and resizable. I really got used to arranging them in the FF320, for having like reals screens in front of me at least during the critical flight phases. It adds a lot to realism.
The MCDU popup is a great thing, but on my 4K rMonitor it is a little small, so being resizable would help a lot. Maybe it would be nice to have the possibility to enter data with the keyboard as well.

So, after spending almost 3 hours enabling and disabling plugins, and restarting x-plane with the A330, to figure what was causing sound issues, I found the specific ones that are causing "Sound3D" plugin menu to disapear and causing sound issues, even with the "plugins_disable.txt" file on its place:

navigraphsimlink_64

World Traffic 3 and WT Radar

X-Life (ironically)

Gladly it's not xEnviro related.
Attached are the logs with each plugin active, and without them when sounds are all ok

Any fix, would be grateful.

Re: XP11 JD330 v.3 r1,r2,r3,r4,r5

A small problem in A330v3, as the aircraft loads the view from the front screen is pink and grey with small squares in it, through the squares you can see the outside scenery. The inside panels are OK. It is only there for a second and it then disappears and all is clear.
But, if you change from another aircraft to the A330v3 the pink and grey does not disappear, it remains and a restart is required.
This may only happen on my computer, but I posted it for info. This has only happened since A330v1.

I think that it is a relict of the registration. This one second of appearance might be the improvement of your licence....
