Topic: Basic ATC taxi routes video

I decided to make a little video explaining how to connect ramp starts to the taxiways and some other useful tips to help people that are new to X-Life. It's much more fun to have airports that you want up and running with ground traffic. I have used KSLC as my example and I have customized it for my liking so you may see some ramp starts where they are not supposed to be.

Thanks Fearlessfrog, I just thought something was needed here for the community. Hopefully this will make it easier for folks to understand how to create gate "pushbacks" and the importance of the Gate Editor. I for one did not know how it's function is so important to getting traffic to move in X-Life. I think as more people start to get the hang of taxi routes you will see many more airports become "verified"

If anyone has more questions about X-Life and making ATC taxiroutes post your questions! I may make a more in depth video on how to make Taxiroutes for beginners using WED and X-Life.

Is there a way to assign 'operators' to gates. I want to build my home airport (A Canadian military base) and only want military traffic except some light aircraft.

You might also want to mention:

1) Ramp starts need to connect completely with a Taxi Route (not Taxi Line; these are different in WED), i.e. the Taxi Route Start Node is placed into the tiny + in the Ramp Start icon.
2) That direct connection needs to be in the same orientation as the ramp start
3) Make sure that the size of the aircraft (as set in Gate Editor) is such that
a) aircraft don't hit each other when moving into or out of their stand and
b) that they are not interfering with other traffic along a Taxi Route

Re: Basic ATC taxi routes video

One other important thing is the HOLD-SHORT waypoints. I still do not completely understand them. How do X-Life know this is a HOLD-SHORT point? In the current state I've learned that X-Life defines HOLD-SHORTS by the last green taxi-line connecting to the red runway-line. So the last point of a green taxiline connecting to the red runway line is the HOLD-SHORT point.
Problem here is if there are any hook-shaped taxiways connecting to the runway, and the hold-short is not in a "direct line of sight" to the runway.

Yes all these points are well taken and need to be carried out. My video's purpose is to help people get started so they can get traffic at their airports. I did not cover a lot of detail, but I might in another video
