Topic: Runway choice

I'm puzzled by X-Life runway choices. It's often RNAV where I have ILS available. I observed that with parallel runways, meaning that it's not a wind consideration.

Runway or parallel runways choice: primary factor is the length required for the aircraft. Roughly, 8000ft minimum for jets.

QFU choice: airports have preferred runways for noise reduction, obstacles or constraints, ILS available on one QFU but not the other... Preferred runway is used even with 5-10kt tailwind. Example: I live in Sint Marteen and jets often takeoff with 10-15kt tailwind in order to climb facing the sea rather than the mountain. It's preferable for twin-engine jets in case of engine failure during takeoff. The loss of power reduces the maneuverability and increases the risk, reason why pilots prefer this option.

Once a runway or a pair of runways are chosen with a QFU, all traffic uses those references. Exceptions are seldom, or for emergency purposes.
