Topic: EPBY - what am I doing wrong?

I've been trying to add taxi-routes to a simple local airport (EPBY), but after watching the video tutorial and spending good 2 hours on it still can't make it work. There is zero traffic.

I'm using latest beta of WED1.6. The airport is based on Polish Airports vol. 3 by Drzewicki Design (payware). Can anyone take a look at the attached EPBY.dat and tell me if there is anything wrong with it? Note, it's by no means complete but should be enough for the operations on that airport. I also edited the gates with X-Life's gate editor. Also note, WED1.6 forces some extra attributes on the taxi ways (refues to export apt.dat), such as arrival/departure runway of nearby taxi routes.

Hi stolowski,

I have had the same issue, WED refused to validate my taxi routes. I downgraded to WED 1.4.1 and it worked.
Prior to export check wether there is no degenerate edges, Double nodes and Crossing edges in edit menu :

Confirmed, XL works ONLY with .dat files generated with WED1.41 and NOT any WED version later than that

I downloaded your files and edited them a little in WED 1.6.0 then loaded into XP11.01, (both current versions as at today). After two or three minutes I saw a plane land and one leave. I turned off X-Life (the version just before 1.2.r.6 which just released today) and all the planes disappeared, so it was definitely working.

All I did was change the planes to allow small planes in the gate editor, add a lot more planes to the main taxi way, and change the taxi way segments that are not directly connected to the runway to remove the runway from the properties (so they appear green in the editor).

My first day trying to use this program, I still have not made it work for my airport after several hours! But hope it helped you. Please reply why you think my edit fixed yours so it can help me with my airports.

Now... I'm really confused. I've copied your files into X-Life airports folder but I still don't see any traffic! At startup X-Life complained about EPBY not being a verified airport. I waited for approximately 5 minutes with X-Life options set to dense traffic, but there was no life at all the airport. I also use Bluebell XL library. Any ideas? I'm running latest XLife Ver.1.2 r6 120517. Could the fact that I'm using actual custom scenery (from Drzewicki Design - payware) be a factor?

To check you could remove your scenery from the X-Plane custom scenery folder temporarily and reload X-plane. Do you use Navigraph for a newer AIRAC - I am not sure if it has something to do with that, I only use default X-Plane but I wonder if a newer AIRAC means x-life can find a better route for the planes - totally guessing. I also get the verified airport warning but it worked anyway. I have default X-Plane AI traffic turned off, maybe it is interfering?
