Large Airplane start problem

I made the experience that some large planes like 747 could not take off from the runway.
On Glasgow Airport I marked one stand as one for large heavy planes. The plane couldn't take off
and is now standing at the end of the runway and it does not know what's to do now. Is there any sheet which could me tell how long the runway has to be at the minimum, depending on airplanes wing size?
