Topic: Is there a support forum for X-Life?

Hello Gang!

Is there a support forum for X-Life somewhere where discussions can be had about the tool?

Thanks!

Dennis

Re: Is there a support forum for X-Life?

Hi guys,
Just purchased X-Life deluxe version.
Updated to version .1.1b2.
It doesn't seem to accept to use custom made airports.
I always get the message "XXXX airport is not X-Life verified!"
How can I test my custom ATC routes?
Thx.

It will work just fine, just ignore that message. If you finish and airport and upload it to Jardesign, they will include it in the downloads and that message will go away

Same with me I loaded an airport I made ATC taxi routes for. Planes filled all my gates but no traffic was moving. My Taxi layout was verified in WED with no problems. Does it just take longer for traffic to start to move? Airports that are X Life verified start right up

I had similar problem with my ATC networks that I had originally created for another traffic program smile. For X-Life, you need to have the ATC node within 2-3 meters of the Ramp (parking position). For push-back gates, I usually put the ATC node right in the center of the Ramp. For tie-down type ramp positions (no push-back), you use one-way segments and the 2-3 meter rule. It's explained at the top of http://jardesign.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1670. If your ATC network follows the rules, your airport should come to life quickly after startup, even though un-verified. Good Luck.

If ATC routes design is too much complex it can take a while to see airport living, but it should take no more than few minutes even in such case. At least this is my experience.

Aircrafts not moving - are you sure you have Ramp Start points connected directly to taxi way? It should be directly connected or not more than few meters apart. For me both methods are working. I use direct connection everywhere. Space between ramp start and twy itself is good for those circular ramps where aicraft taxi in and out in same direction/heading.

To the "not verified" message - until you upload your airport .dat and .txt files here and until admins put those files on their servers you'll allways get that message. But has zero impact on final functionality, it is only notice, nothing more. XL will allways inform you about any airport which is not existing on the XL airport database server.

Re: Is there a support forum for X-Life?

Just a quick 'note'.

In WED, you don't have to delete all the other stuff when exporting your .dat file.

Just group it, and Hide it before exporting. That way you don't accidently delete stuff and forget to undelete it.
