Hi..yes, remove WT plugin. And yes, XL will crash if you use an airport not in XL. (it does for me too)

I use airports that are not on the "approved" list all the time and they do not crash XP!
If your ATC Taxi Routes are conforming with JAR rules there is no problem.

That's strange. My XP never crashed when i tried to activate it on airport without ATC routes data. It simply didn't turn on any traffic, but definitely not crashing (same behavior with last beta versions and actual RC 1.01r of XL). It must be some another plugin interfering with XL.

I think it is quite complicated, as countries my have different rules. Let me give you an example (notice I am not a real pilot, but this is my understanding).

The demand to map and  implement "centers" into XL ATC is nonsense.
Such a "project" in the real is "Eurocontrol". Its complexity is far beyond any idea to simulate such a net, not to speak about implementing it in a software like XL.

http://jardesign.org/forum/img/m/1591/t/p1aglqbg8udr71sh3j2n9n62dm7.jpg

What can be done is to take for example the division of european air space into 'CENTER' zones. and for each zone to set a specific FL... not more. Sim pilots under XL can then get advices after changing zones to dial the corresponding zones  frequencies.

http://jardesign.org/forum/img/m/1591/t/p1aglq5va715j89iqfb5102214kf3.jpg

I do not think it is impossible, if you get help from the community, and develop tools for this, it will work.

First step is to have a major system for centers, which you can build and fragment on. It is up to Romanov which level to start on. Let us say he starts from a state of 1 (which in this example is number 1), and the other states may be filled in by users, almost in the same way as airports are updated at the current state:

State 1. One center for whole of the world with a default frequency, stretching from GND to UNLIMITED altitude.
State 2. One center for every country, defined by a polygon, and with a custom lower and upper limit.
State 3. Segments of centers in a country, with custom lower and upper limits.
(State 4. TMA <- approach, departure, radar)
(State 5. CTR <- tower)

NOTE: airspaces may overlap in a a 2D view, but they should not overlap in 3D space (i.e. airspaces may have the same polygon and position, but at different lower and upper limits, not intersecting each other; TWR below TMA, TMA below CENTER, CENTER below another CENTER and so on).

If there is no state 5 airspace at the position of aircraft, use state 4 airspace, if there is no state 4 airspace, use state 3 airspace, and so on until default state 1 airspace. Of course we could simulate uncontrolled airspace, so we need to be able to setup rules if an aircraft is i.e. below the altitude/flightlevel of a state 2, 3, 4 or 5 airspace. This is only possible if any of this airspaces is defined.

State 2 and 3 airspaces (centers in this case, needs to manually made my the community). The state 4 and 5 airspaces (TMA and CTR) can be retrieved from www.openaip.net, and covers most of Europe and North America.

The requirements for everything to work is to:
1. Make the plugin able to read the data from openaip format (which is open  and easy to parse I think). Also the plugin needs to combine this data with user set of frequencies for TMA and CTR:s.
Because it seems openaip does not support frequencies (I guess), X-Life may modify the openaip data for its own best by just adding a slot for frequency, or pair an openaip file with its own frequency file.

2. A tool for the community which can load and save openaip data, where users may
* read TMA, CTR and CENTER airspaces graphically
* edit TMA and CTR airspace frequencies
* edit/create CENTER airspaces as polygons, and set its frequencies and lower and upper limits.
* maybe able to also create TMA and CTR airspaces with polygons if the area is not covered by openaip

As an alternative to option 1, is to make everything out from scratch and X-Life using its own format.

An important note here, some manually action is required here to align the borders of centers between FIR:s, i.e. let us say user A creates a CENTER airspace for Sweden FIR, while user B is using creates a CENTER airspace for Norway, the border between these two FIR:s needs to be aligned with each other.

Good day,
When first starting with the plugin you should keep things simple and use the airports on the map that is provided with the plugin.
This way your experience will be better and when ever you do post a CTD you need to send JAR a log.txt here on this plugin we always require a log.txt before tech support and this is why the plugin has been able to advance. also, he does see the log and does not have to respond to every post but has the data he needs to fix the issues.  (Even in the demo version.)

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

When you purchase a license key for X Life will that help to make the airports more populated? Also am I right to say that X life uses the default ATC taxi info in X Plane unless you create it for airports in WED? I have been using World Traffic for a few months but I really like how X Life operates. It's more consistent, realistic, and seems more user friendly. Thanks! I think with a little more time X life will be the best ATC plugin for X plane.

I used my KSFO airport today and there were not any problems. I did make ATC taxi routes for it but what was interesting is that planes were holding short at spots where I did not enter any holds. So what data is X life reading from? Must be it's own built in ATC. Pretty cool!

So I used RW22L and landed, vacated and then got the CTD.

Test flight LFBO-LICC
JAR A320 2.6.1
X-life latest
SMP Latest + RWC
FM car
on my iMac27 OSX 10.9.5

It is the first time that ATC failed. It might hang together with my FMC programming.
CENTER advice was to land ILA on RWY 26, but it isn't ILS equipped - only RWY 08.
So I programmed FMC for APPR to RWY 26. At this point ATC, instead to pass me to APPROACH, it went in a loop (see log.txt)
From this point I had to shut down ATC.

Unfortunately I was recording the whole flight to demonstrate XL ATC and traffic.

Another failure was that an AI aircraft behind me while I began with my take of came at high speed behind and flew through my aircraft. (hold failure)
http://jardesign.org/forum/img/m/1591/t/p1agofc2qthbh7pmecsqi7qde.jpg

And last but not least as I was on approach another small AI aircraft was landing before me. I reduced speed to minimum to gain
distance. It works well but the small aircraft was taxiing on runway all the way long (it could leave the runway immediately). So
I landed while the small aircraft was a second before exiting the runway at its end. Need to check program for small aircraft rolling on runway after landing exiting at the first taxi way.

First of all - don't give up! It is a very complex project of AI traffic worth to support....

I got also in some cases advices to land on an ILS equipped  RWY that wasn't such a one. Now I want to look first at the charts and eliminate in XL all the RWY that are not ILS capable before programming the FMC. Then I hope to get advices to land only on ILS RWY as it should be. In my opinion the problem is that we are flying airliners and want to made our approach under ILS, but XL is designed to use any aircraft. So I think that ATC advice to land on a specific runway is basically dependent on wind/weather .........

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Hi so just trying to understand X Life a little better. Ok so as of now a " Verified airport" is one that is on the airport map page and X life will load it's own traffic to those airports when the program is started. So how does one use an airport that is Not verified? For instance I loaded an airport that I made ATC routes for that checked out ok in WED, the planes appeared but there was no traffic movement. Is X-life very strict how taxi routes are created? Perhaps my pushbacks from gates were not created properly for X- life to use? I'm just not sure. Also when I tried to file a flight plan X life would not allow the un verified airport. Seems as like there are some limitations to X life or it's more about me not knowing more about the program which is probably more to the point. Is there a user manual available? That is something that's really needed here. Any advice from experienced users is welcome!

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Hello,
It seems we are going to have more detailed gate editing at WED with 10.50.

Thanks to Ben Supnik, he confirmed that we have ICAO Based Sized list.  So that means, if a developer create or edit its scenery with full working taxiways and correct gate information  that means we can use X-life out of the box without any *.dat download or  gate editing.

Will X-life adopt  WED's new property? currently we have to use gate editor to ban A380 and 747-8i but allow 777 and 747-400 since default HEAVY class means  all of those.

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Ok figured it out. For an "unverified" airport that you want to use you must make sure you have pushback lines created to the taxiway for the gate editor to read. ex push out pull in. Also make you add hold point nodes before runways. Also you must export your airport for example KBWI.dat and place in Airports folder in X Life. Make sure the text file reads at the top after airport name for example Baltimore Washington International KBWI.dat  The video on creating ATC taxiways this forum is very helpful but had to look at it a few times!

Good day, I'm flight with FF A350XWB, I want to ask how can I show other AI aircraft on ND panel?
I comfired my Jar A320NEO can show other AI aircraft on ND panel, or Xlife can't support non JAR plane show traffic on ND??

Thank You for your answer~

Unverified airports work just fine if the ATC Taxi Routes are well done!
The Ramp-ATC Route connections and the Route-Runway connections are the most critical. Follow the rules IN DETAIL!
You will get it to work. It took me a long time but KBOS traffic and ATC is now working perfectly (except that the FM car is sometimes doing strange things - I need to refine the routes even more) and it's not on the verified list.
