Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

My review so far for X-Life is very positive. After doing several flights some with ATC some without I will just mention a few things. Firstly make sure you have your traffic density and gate sliders set to or close to the middle before you start X-Life traffic on. I was trying to max them out thinking I would get more traffic and that was the reason I did not see traffic activity. If you have 140 gates at an airport, it will report around 50 or below as busy also you will not see 140 planes waiting at the gates. When you start the traffic use the gate editor to set what gates will be in use, wingspan categories, taxi/pushback situation, stand, gate, cargo, hanger then save that profile so you can use it the next time for that airport. I have been able to use several "unverified" airports by making .dat files in WED and using my own airport scenery that I have downloaded from the Gateway which makes flying more fun. I'm hoping in the future one will be able to file flight plans to and from "unverified" airports because as of now this can't be done (or can it?) The ATC is very easy to use. I have done a few ATC flights, but suggest the following 1. The ability to request different altitudes during flight. 2. The choice of ILS/VOR approaches and runways (can you do this now?) FSX gave you those options and adds to realism. Ground traffic tends to freeze at times when waiting for planes that aren't even a factor. For instance why should all the traffic around a runway freeze when a plane is so far away? A plane at the opposite end of a runway from a plane landing doesn't have to wait does it? Also it would be great if you could fly to and from an airport, have traffic at the destination airport without having to file a flight plan. Sometimes you don't have time for a totally structured flight and would just like to take off. Another nice option would be able to set or change a flight plan during a flight. That is realism. Sometimes planes have to divert to other airports because of weather, fuel, or mechanical trouble. All in all I like X-Life and have really enjoyed using it! I know it's in the early stages of development and sure the best is yet to come. Hats off to JAR and crew!

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Hey, quick question- do you need the deluxe version to see air traffic on tcas/ND instruments? I cant see any even though Im squawking and turned the ND on to show traffic. I was also using Peters A320 NEO.

The only way I know to see air traffic is on the radar that is provided with the deluxe version. But I could be wrong about that.

Good day,

Thank-you for your kind words the JAR Development Team and the Public Beta team has worked so, hard to bring a plugin that is easy to use and works as intended. As, the project progress there were and still are issues that are being addressed so, the constructive criticism and comments are most welcome by anyone that is a scenery designer or aircraft designer in XP and lets not forget the best part of XP the pilots rule! So, we always need their input.

Thanks for the post,
Brian

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

On a flight from ESSA to EFTP I was cleared for an ILS approach to runway 06.  Per air charts and X-Plane, runway 06 at EFTP does not have an ILS approach.  Otherwise this flight was without an incident.  Log.txt attached.

Hello,

is there some way, how to limit certain aircraft sizes on certain runways? Something like Gates Editor where we could say "this runway is only for aircrafts up to xyz wingspan" or so. Or simply something else which could help to prevent things like "look, there is an A320 taking off on grass runway" etc.

Thanks.

Hi Eugeny,

wrong holding short and start at EHAM on rwy 06 (starting on grass), maybe bug in x-life algorithm, because .dat file is correct, see also pic

Good day,
This is a short answer but no, this is not a thing that happens in real life. but the issues that is happening is an issue that need to be fixed and there is a reason why.

Long answer,
Everyone has stopped sending in there log.txt and there box.txt on some of the posts this is how the issues get fixed weather you think it is necessary or not JAR see issues that you and others are not aware of and he fixes bugs that you do not see by US posting the log.txt,dump.txt and bbxbox.txt if it is a JAR aircraft. now we do have new testers here so, I have to keep posting this it is not up for debate because this is how the X-Life plugin has become, a good plugin by everyone sending the data in so, JAR can see all the data then work on the debugging from there.
Thank-you so, much for your help.
Brian

Thank you for your input too, Brian, i agree, we should post our dump logs when asking i.e. for help, solving some issues etc., truth is i felt this is not an issue but more function, simply given by how XL works or by some XP limitations or so, but again, i agree. Posting dump logs is a part of being testing successfull smile.

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

I have some issue, well, not sure if is it issue smile with two really each to other close airports in Prague - those are LKLT Letnany and LKKB KBely. See picture, they are really close, literaly across the street - nothern LKLT is small GA flying club airport while southern LKKB is half civilian, half military (ex-military) and partly cargo airport.

My issue is when i go to LKLT, X-life during activation of AI traffic mentions only and only LKKB. Not saying anything about LKLT. I am not able to use Gates Editor at LKLT too, when i open it a gates for LKKB will show etc., simply as i am not sitting at LKLT at all, X-life always detects me at LKKB.

No matter if i have .dat files under /Airports folder or not. X-life still, seems like it, detects only LKKB, no matter if i sit on LKLT on LKKB and never detects LKLT.

Could be the airports proximity the issue? Or where should i look, what could be wrong?

Thank you.

Uneventful flight from EFTP to EETN.   Upon arrival to the EETN area I was cleared to descend to FL32.  My programed response was "Descending to FL60..."  Excerpt from log.txt below and full log.txt is attached.

XL: 4725 : ---+++--- ATC: N64JB, Identified, expect DOBA1L arrival, ILS approach Runway 26, descend to FL 32
XL: 4800 : ---+++--- Pilot: Descending to FL60, expect DOBA1L arrival, ILS approach Runway 26, N64JB

Good day,
good see communication and team work is why X-Life is a plugin that works the way it should and is getting better all the time.
Are there issue that need to be fixed or that can be improved on of corse but when we all work the way we have been it so easy to get the project done and i am so impressed on the team work of the Beta team... keep it up.

Re: X-Life ver 1.0 (rc1, r1, ++)

Hello,

One question: Why X-Life does not utilize the 1204 parameter of apt.dat of ATC taxi routes indicating hold short points, but instead requires hold short point to be one line segment away from the runway? It makes possible to put hold short points further away from runway, which is often necessary. It can also limit the hold short for arrivals or departures only if required.

For example:
1202 41 40 twoway taxiway A
1204 departure 03,21
1204 arrival 03,21

Means that the line segment between points 41&40 denotes a "restricted" area which you can't enter before the tower gives you permission for it (runway 03/21 is free).
