Vehicles reversing go mad!

I have been playing around with creating sets and I am having trouble with the vehicles going in reverse. Even if you set a marker to go straight back, (the wheels are even straight), no matter what distance, the vehicles just seem to try and do a backward loop around!

So random. Any tips?
