Internet connection required always?

Hi, I haven't found this question anywhere.
I have a GB monthly limited internet connection, and I want to know if x-life work always online or not. I'm very interesting in atc control (and flight planning maybe). X-life works also offline? and if yes, what? if works only online, what is its consume? (ex MB/h?)
